I would guess it was a melaleuca bracteata revolution gold - it looked like it was a collected garden tree to me.

Sorry Tony Melalueca bracteata does not have paperbark, it is fissured. At a guess from pictures from here, and knowing how many have been exported from here.
I would say Melalueca rhaphiophylla.

I am sorry I missed it; looks like there were some great plants on display, and wonderful demonstrations, too.

Not getting rid of me that easy. It was your guess that brought the response. Knowing that M bracteata does not have paperbark.
Of the 250 plus Melaueca,s only approx 48 are paperbarks.

Cheers guys, it's good to know what it actually is. I also would love to see it in a few years time. Not sure who bought it, but hoping they will share some pics of its progression.

Yes of the ones I have worked on in over 20 they gradually weaken and die off leaving just foliage where it can go back up.
I have been ridiculed for this claim.
One of the reasons not to active any more.
Botanically it takes at least three growing seasons to prove anything new so a time frame of 2/4 years should do it.
