Hi Bodhi, any updates on the 3 wisterias? I Recently purchased a 25 year old wisteria but it's not flowering this Spring. I added fertiliser to its soil during winter but I'm not sure what the N-P-K ratio is. I was told that too much Nitrogen will make it grow leaves while Potassium will make it grow flowers?

Well firstly, beautiful trees. But I wish I had you near me. I have just spent an hour trying to up root a Chinese Wisteria, about 6 years old, bought in 2010, then put in garden 2012.
John dug a trench around it two days ago, I refilled the soil so the feeder roots wouldn't suffer and watered it well. But - the crunch It has big, and I mean big tap roots. It would not budge. I think I have only one more to sever, but having a rest as I am exhausted. But your trees are lovely. Mine hasn't flowered yet even in the ground, so I trimmed all the wandering creeping stems, and kept the thick two trunks or rather one trunk and two thick branches. Phhh.

A truly beautiful bonsai, but the story is almost as beautiful.

Lovely lovely tree. Thought I would share a pic of my own 18 year old blue wisteria. Just moved her from undercover while I was waiting for the roots to establish, and she is now pushing out green behind the buds. Going to feed a 0 nitrogen liquid fertiliser to see if I can get her to flower - first year in the pot I don't like my chances, but

Just wondering whether you can hard cut wisteria's roots back to the main roots (the big ones) say just the main 4 or 5 roots?

Yes you can but after flowering.

Flowering takes up a lot of energy and you should wait until they are done and you can prune the tree before the root prune. The other way is to prune in August and cut off all the flowering buds.

That's a real shame she's on her last legs. What a beauty!
