cheers mate

i have found this one a little less vigourous than the triple trunk, maybe as i wasnt pruning it as often as it was in my grow area, it will fill out nicely i think and when i get that left hand branch to come down and extend i think it will come out well, another six to twelve months and it will be getting close i reckon!

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
much better picture and shows the moss i found and have attached to the rock area
i also took the thin apex off, i think it was distracting from the overall image and not adding to it. eventually it might have a semi cascading branch like said previously

Hi Jamie, a semi cascading branch would be a really good look, that branch structure suits r o r so well.

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
hi craig
you insight is always good
muchly appreciated. i always try and better a tree in one way or another when i work with it, i love the idea of getting a branch to cascade my only issue is the first left hand branch is a touch higher then the first right hand branch which actually goes to the back some. that might be up for removal down the track.
i intend to grow the semi cascade branch as how nature intended it to happen by letting the tree extend itself and then use some weights to bring it down, doing it that way will make sure it doesnt look forced or to contrieved.
i always enjoy talking bonsai with you
i am hoping to get down your way sometime in the future
cheers mate

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
Hi Jamie check this one out I have been training this for a few years but its only been in a bonsai pot for about 4 years so the branches need heaps of work.
Would be a pleasure to show you around here some time.

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
G`day mate I like both angles for the front , mate I think you need to be patient . I would plant it back where it should be in a growing on box an wait for the roots to grow over the rock . As it is now it looks like the tree is just sitting on the rock not attached to it. Cheers Rod...

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
i have been thinking that aswell mate
thanks for the advice!
my bigest issue is the roots are all one sided, grafting saplings to the front is most likely going to have to be done. i think i will graft the saplings on and then stick it in the ground at my new place

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
Jamie,i like the first pic better. You just need to create some roots flowing down the rock and perfect!
The second pic shows more roots but it feels like the tree is falling forward.
And also,Jamie,i have one question. Do you know if Clero grow down here in Sydney? I've never seen one before. But i see around my house,in parks,on roadsides there are a lot of those shrubs with soft, green elongated leaves. They have bunches of thin long yellow flowers at the tip of branches, and green to purple berries. do you reckon they are Clero?
Cheers,
thuy.

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
gday thuy
thanks for the comments, i agree with the first pic as front too.
as for that one being clero it is possible but i dont think it is clerodendrum inerme. there are many varieties of clero though. the ones i have seen dont have yellow flowers like that, the flowers on a clerodendrum are small and white normally.
