Well Grant if seasol kills banksia I would have some very dead trees and as you recent pics show they are alive and flourishing

I use seasol on banksias. I also flirted with danger mixing a bit of dynamic lifter in to the mix when slip potting a pot bound nursury stock b. Serrata.

I have been using seasol on the seedlings I planted this year since they came up and they are now very strong little trees.

Seasol goes on all my limited collection of natives.

Awesome trees lads. I had/have some small banksia integrifloia collected by a friend, I fertilised with seasol as with all my other trees and the banksia did not like it at all. Their leaves browned and fell off. I think they were just not yet established in their pots - very little root growth. I ended up throwing out the biggest one which was a big mistake. I am hoping they bounce back, one had buds forming. I will not fertlise until they have plenty of leaf growth.

Hi,

That is what we are getting at. It may be a number of things that have caused a problem with a banksia at some stage but it does not necessarilly mean that the Seasol was the cause of the problem. Seasol is often used as a cure all and because it didn't save a tree in some situations and was applied as a last resort then maybe the Seasol is getting the blame?

In fact maybe the Seasol revived your Banksia that was going to fail catastrophically!

I use and have used Seasol on my Banksia and like Craig have had no adverse reactions.

Newly potted, dug up Banksia can be touchy with or without Seasol or a liquid fert. Timing , as with all trees, is very important as well.

Hi
I use seasol in my nursery all the time I buy it in bulk and use it in bulk on hundreds of different plant species and you can rest assured it never killed anything. I think with the bonsai and I use it on all my trees the key is to use small amounts on a regular basis

I spent an hour or so discussing Ian Edwards with his lifetime friends Dr Chandrabanu and artist Sam Schoenbaum.
They had many memories which I need to rationalize before I commit to a story.
When I do,I will post it in the history section.
Cheers
Lindsay

Stunning!

I spent ages studying the structure of this Banksia and got well and truly lost in it's enchantment.
And what about that base!

Hey Craig
Some of the other competitors might kill me but I am sure there is nothing in the rules stating that this could not be entered in the Native contest :)
Just repost it in the comp thread with your details and your in :)

Can't be that dead set against competition can ya :?

And yes a very nice base. Looks like a bit of fusing going on :D

Hmm maybe because it is not in your care at this particular moment maybe it is a grey area?

Sometimes maybe I should say nothing :? :D

Thanks for that Brett I feel that Grant is taking such good care of my tree maybe he should enter it. I didn't design this tree and have only enhanced and hopefully improved Ian's original design. Maybe in another 10 years when I have owned it for more than half its life I can enter it as my tree.
