Plant starter ... I have had excellent results with this. Excellent product, but not to be overused. I sort of over-did the Ash trees last year ... :D OMG :D ... too many adventitious shoots that are still being rubbed out regularly. At least they are alive, but important to select shoots.

Hi guys
sorry I didn't see that anyone had replied on the tread for a while. And Ant, NO I have not given up on it at all :D
It's not dead at all guys, it's health still isn't ablolutely great but it's better then it was. It eventually budded out a little more and some of the buds extended a little but not much (probably due to it being winter) but some areas didn't bud back so there's a patches of nothing on a few of the foliage pads. I didnt end up bare rooting it, I thought I would take the chance and leave it until early spring to do it. I've been feeding it with some slow release fertilizer and some thrive solution every so often.
I'm reasonably confident that it will in the long run be alright, I'll just take slow steps and bring back to vigour over the next year, if it let's me ;) but at the moment it seems pretty stable :)
Thanks
Hugh ;)

Just thought I'd throw in two tips (once for each of my two-cents) to this ressurected thread: the first might be that when pinching I was told to think of it as separating Lego blocks... no crushing, no twisting. Second, a veteran was watching my pinching technique and warned that many folks can be quite gentle with the "pinching hand" but yet squeeze too hard with the 'holding hand' [left for most of us....] and this is what often contributes to the browning far more than pinch technique...... proverbial "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" scenario. Looking at your Feb jpegs, if mites aren't the issue, perhaps it's pinching technique. Oh, by the way....once the tree is looking better, a bit of dolomite can work wonders in tandem with the other treatments. (Also can't remember what you said for watering, but if you are using tap water, switch to rainwater if possible.....if not, leave the tapwater in a bucket overnight before putting on plants.....) OK....I guess that was 2x2cents....

Thanks mate
you might actually be on to something there with not crushing the foliage when you pinch it. That might be what I was doing actually now when Think about it :) so that is probably one of the things that stuffed me up.
And the water I use is rain water, we all run on tanks where I live, so there's no treated water at all.

Thanks alot
Hugh ;)

Thanks dumper, I'm hoping it goes well too. When spring comes along I'll really be able to see how it goes.

Great tips Makka!!! That makes alot of sense! One book i have read in the past said they dont like to be handled to often. That is exactly why. :D

Besides that the trees need some growth to keep their vigor, not always pinch every single new growth the day it comes out. ;) Key words...not always... :D
