are you using the same soil as the test and the same trees and the same altitude and the same temperature and the same daylight hours same humidity are seeds from the same tree as in all science you need to maintain a strict control over all varieables if not your wasting your time ring a scientest at csiro and may be could help you run your own tests i allways believe to much knowledge sends people crazy common sense is the key but if you must know run some tests and post your findings

yeah allso have you tried auxinone check it out ive had great succsess with it havnt lost a transplanted tree since started using it

Maybe I should start a new thread but
what is auxinone?
oh and Ive never bothered to be too careful with fertislizer Just guess a bit. sometimes itll be light others heavy Im sure.
As long as I get it done Im happy. Too busy to measure it all.
I just know I dont like granular products which you have to mix like thrive, they never disolve properly and get stuck in the watering can.

I know someone repotted a privet but just before to put the tree in the new pot, it has been left overnight in a 100% solution of seasol....and guess what....The tree did not drop one leaves and it is still alive today
and looking very healthy

Too much science in my blood. I'll just stick to being an amateur cake decorator.
Not that I've gotten anywhere with bonsai (
yet!), but I must say studying plants at a cellular and later at a species level has certainly helped a lot in understanding how plants function. A healthy dose of both theoretic and practical knowledge certainly go a long way in helping the bonsai enthusiast. Makes it easier if you know
why something works, not just that it works period.
