I like that red round pot most. Just curious, what that green stuff (inside the pot) is,Dumper?

I would say it is the green glaze drips from a pot I have . I do have one the same, with a tree in it of green glaze, I have been told mine is antique

Not sure of the antique bit but it might be CR. But will treasure it as it is very similar to the coal fired one.

I think it makes the pot more unique. Its like a signature.

im not sure too. maybe it's the vegetative glaze residue.maybe it's like what pup said. drips of green glazed

Thanks for that Grant and Jamie. Authentic pots for sure. As I understand they were imported by L&R Bruce in melbourne, then distributed elsewhere.

EDIT: That touched off a memory. I had forgotten I bought these 2nd hand pots last year. Must find where they're hiding in my shed and check them out.

Importation of Cultural Revolution pots.

Australia did not have a trade agreement with China, until 1973.

The Cultural Revolution occured in China between 1965 and 1976.

Potters at the Jun factory and Purple sand factory in Yixing used the Cultural Revolution mark till 1978.

The first shipment that I was aware of arrived to Victorian Importers in 1973.

The ware was made for export. Nobody had money in China.

Exportable products exited China through Hong Kong.

It is quite likely that other pot importers like the Koreshoff's also imported them.

Does anyone have any knowledge of such imports?

The square pot that Jamie, Grant and John share are not glazed. It is a sandstone slip. These pots came with a tray as Johns has. I have one of these pots but unfortunately it is cracked. The tray is not.
The scrafitti is of exquisite quality. I think these came from purple sand teapot factory #1. The clay body is fine but not fine zisha. Jamies pot shows the cultural revolution stamp.
Grant's red guard at HUANG SHAN pot ( only red guard were allowed on the mountain during the CR) is from the Jun factory. The decorative art is not simply painted it is layer on layer of clay slivers depicting the image then glazed. I'd happily swap that one for a hand made Jack Tripovitch or Tokoname pot. Pup's pot looked like one until I see the seven drainage holes. I have never seen a CR pot with holes like that. Because these are replicating famous pots from the Sung dynasty, Japanese makers also create them. I'm unsure about pup's.

Dumper - the second last green-glazed one you posted looks exactly like the one i have (had)! Unfortunately it's now in pieces, pot was toppled over by strong wind.
I bought the pot off a reputable bonsai dealer in Singapore and he told me it was made in Shiwan (somewhere around Canton, China). I dont recall him saying it was CR, but he said it was very old and very valuable. Very hard to find beautiful pots like these now. The glaze on it was excellent. Very sad that I had to glue the pieces back together and i'm not willing to throw it out just yet. Yours seems to be in very good condition and I know you'll treasure it for many years!
