Ok my first tree, a Juniper Procumbens bought at a Sydney city market probably around 1997. This photo though is probably taken around 2003.
....and today. Maybe 1mm in trunk growth

but improved overall shape (though it is very 1 sided) . Comments suggestions welcome.

This is the tree I have had the longest, not just a stick but a tiny seedling with 2 sets of leaves when it was dug in 1986. In 1997 it had progressed a bit but was still essentially a stick in a pot. In 2008 it flowered for the first time ever and I decided to plant it in the ground to GROW! Drawing inspiration from yourself I have started anew with this tree, no longer am i going to try to keep it little.. I want this baby BIG & bold when in full flower. It has just started pushing new shoots after the major reworking it has received. The first branch is now the trunk, trunk will be start of the 1st branch.

Hi Matt,
What species is it?
It looks like a Jacaranda to me.
Do you have an update?

I found these photos the other day

What a great reflection on how far we can come in a few years with this hobby. None of these trees display any hidden genius, but this is where my passion began and my obsession was born. "AND WHAT A GREAT OBSESSION TO HAVE"

Notice the white and black "ying and yang" pebbles on the ficus! I was trying to find the artist within!

I thought that was the whole point of the thread?
so you declared yourself "advanced" bonsaist
This "name" has not yet contributed anything of relevance to this thread, and has struck a cord with his poorly placed words. Was my understanding of the thread off kilter?
