o....k.... but mine are just little/starters... and nothing at all like what you've been able to develop... but I guess starting a progression won't hurt...

Hi Qitianlong , mate i don't give a bugger if its a stick in a pot , these things grow like mad and in a season or two you will have a well developed trainers . This just happened to be developed by a blind old lady ,"My Mum" God Bless her for giving it to me . Nothing like growing sticks into trunk and showing a progression to boot , its all about learning and sharing .

Another year on and its growing well considering the neglect of most of the material around here . The layer has grown well but from here on both will get the attention they need .The main trunk is about to flower so it will be trimmed into shape after the flowering has finished , that my excuse not to wire the buggers and move onto others .

This has been flowering for a week or so . I will allow it to continue to help thicken the branches then cut it back to shape .The other trainer has been burnt too a crisp and may not recover .

I particularly like this as the front:



Based Purely on the trunk movement and profile of the tree, so far.

Never got around to layering a Myrtle but Ive read that hard wood cuttings from them have a good success rate, its just a matter of finding a tree and getting permission to hack away at it.

Hi Angrew F , mate the crossed root forming the fused base is a little distracting for my liking . Both front and back have the same featured movement but the other pic has a better base and flare but needs rotating around 30 degree's to conceal the large scars from the layers . Its certainly healthy enough , pity about the layer being burnt but that bonsai in the heat .

Rather than waste the energy on the flowers i decded to trim it back hard and get some shoots happening . I did a re-pot , root prune and rotate to give better movement from all directions More than happy with the progress and position .

Hi Andrew F, its been pinched back this morning as the new shoots longate 6-8 pairs of leaves a week and the sub branches thicken quickly when fresh and can outsize the older growth .

Hi Biocs , hoping to get a bit of thickening in the leader with all the new shoots to improve the taper . Growing like a noxious weed so hopefully i will get a good result .

Hi bonsaibud' , I hope i can see it in 5 years time , the eye sight is getting a little worse each year .

Hi sreeve , I'm very happy with the progress of this one . The challenge now is to keep the basic shape through the flowering period , hopefully re-potting into a smaller container in Winter will restrick it somewhat .
