Good work Ketoi...now really make my day and tell me you worked it out yourself, just so I can rub Brett's nose in IT.

I can read
It wasn't that difficult, after reading a couple of threads here and one at clayart I gave it a try. Had all the supplies just needed to my thoughts to practice, as you can see each one shows shows improvement over the previous. Can't wait till I can fire them, the small ones may be dry by the weekend to do a test load.
ps Your faceted bowl is lovely!!
Happy you like it, means a lot coming from seasoned potter like yourself.

I will be doing a workshop at our May club meeting on the cracked landscape pots. The participants are going to make their own. Too far for you to come Ketoi?
Penny.

Penny,
A bit far to go on such short notice, I need months of advance warning.

I used the sodium silicate for the first time yesterday and found it works much better than the other methods I had tried previous such as rolling on fibro board.
I had the oldest member of the club pretty excited that a new member was teaching them a technique
I have not tried it on the wheel yet and have much to learn on ways to put the pots together. The one I did yeterday was a ring that I still need to attach to a base so I fear the very base of the pot will look out of wack with the crack effect the rest of the pot has. I will try one already attached to a base and see how that goes next.
I have not tried the sodium silicate with a slip yet as you seem to be doing ketoi. Can you tell me do you just mix the sodium silicate with a slip before applying. How did you find only using a hand on the inside to stretch out the ring.

Hey soltan,
How about a photo of your progress?
I put the slip on 1st then torch, next the sodium then torch. I haven't worked on the wheel long enough with 2 hands for a 1 handed stretch to be as awkward as I have read about.

I almost took a picture of the completed wheel thrown oval that was destroyed by too eager drying

but I couldn't take the embarasment so it went into the reclaim bucket.
I have only tried one with the sodium so far(my first two attempts with fibro board are in another thread) as I have been so busy doing the wheel thrown pots.
I will take a picture of that one and any others that I try next tuesday at pottery club. I should see If I can get a picture of the ladies too
Thanks for the slip suggestions I will be sure to try this soon.

one more...
Faceted pot with homemade butterscotch glaze, applied it too thick and ruined a shelf getting it off.

Same RIO slip as crack pots posted above but fired at a different ramp speed
All three are covered in a manganese dioxide wash but each has a different application method
Dripped; filled the sponge with the wash squeezed it above the pot so it drip into the cracks
Dipped and sponged off
Brushed and sponged off
