there is lots of rotting but i do not know whether that is the cause or effect.
the trunk has been kept as dry as can be and in full sun so that is not the cause I think.

Wood louse possibly for one of them but they are only small. The other has no picture of the larvae so who knows.

:palm: I feel for you Ken.... I really do. Good luck with this one mate. I have had similar damage on a tree before from a borer, not a pleasant outcome. :cry:

Ran the photos past a member of the school tonight who work in identifying insects and he concurs.
Suggests cleaning out the rotten bits and treating with confidor.

Will give it a go this week. and hope for the best :fc:
