Re: Akadama and Kanuma, Sydney $20 a bag
Hi Bretts
I can confirm my order and as I live near Parramatta.
Also I can help unload /cook snags/ if I can fit it in around work!
Great effort. This old quote springs to mind - this is a small step for.... but a giant leap for.........!!
Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks.

If any Participants have not seen this yet here is a picture of the product that Pup put up in the original thread.
It is the top quality "Double Line" hard akadama Thanks should also go to Steven and others that have helped facilitate this purchase with everything from buying extra bags to get us accross the line to the continued support of help when needed.
Psst I noticed nominations for free pots are meant to be sent by PM to Steven. LOL

Now I have a moment of where the bloody hell are ya. So when I take the pic tomorrow of the Babingtonia in its new pot. I know where to put it no bloody remarks

Re: Akadama and Kanuma, Sydney $20 a bag
I'm for $20 bucks a bag and the extra get deposited provided that purchasing members are the ones that reap the benefits of the accumulated funds. I know we are a community as a whole but money does talk in these cases.
A buying alliance should be held by the buyers not lurkers.....sorry if this upsets any less than outspoken members in future. If new members want in....ante up the same as every one else. In this case $4.30 per bag or individually for me $43.00. So I suggest that a buy in discount price of $4.30 entitles you to a percentage right of the future purchases.
Getting difficult? Sorry but $43 gets me a half decent stock tree.
I am definitely still in for $20 a bag though.
Cheers

Re: Akadama and Kanuma, Sydney $20 a bag
Understand your thoughts Techpetal
This money would be used towards the upfront costs of purchases it would be replaced as participants paid for the product so asking them to pay extra for the next product does get too difficult. In fact you may not even want in on the next product we decide to group purchase and your money would be used for upfront costs and then replaced as members collect their product. It really needs to be looked at like a club donation, that money will never be yours again. But it will be used to cover future upfront costs of group purchases.
It does raise another option though. Any new members joining a group purchase deal could be asked to pay a one of contribution (membership) to the upfront trust fund. Maybe $10.
The participants that have purchased more bags will be donating more money. I have 10 next to my name but I am really closer to 15 depending on how many Scott decides to get of me. At $20 a bag that puts my donation at $64.50 yet I was going to pay that anyway. I am happy to be the first to suggest cheaper and put my vote at $18. That's a bit each way. We share in the saving and we also donate to the Pre Purchase fund.
I think I should also clarify that we are voting on a suggested purchase price. This is what we are saying we think we should pay. The original deal was cost price and everyone is free to claim that deal even if the vote gives a different suggested purchase price.
As some members will be paying more depending on how many bags they are getting I think it would be fair to count the bags as votes.
At the moment we have
30 votes $20
15 votes $18
Be quick with your vote it gets to Sydney as soon as Monday.
As this negotiation evolves over the next day or three feel free to adjust your vote on the thread or by PM
Per Item cost
$16 extra funds total of $30 used to purchase sausages for BBQ on collection day.
$17 Extra funds total of $100 to Trust account
$18 Extra funds total of $200 to Trust account
$19 Extra funds total of $300 to Trust account
$20 Extra funds total of $400 to Trust account

Re: Akadama and Kanuma, Sydney $20 a bag
Thanks for the Aka effort Brett, I held back on the akadama, because if it proved useful; where would the next bag come from!
Now it seems like there will be continuity, I could get interested again.
However there is movement at the station and it is hoped that shortly there will be supplies of australia's own clay available in Sydney, so I think I'll give that a bash first.
Regards, AnneK

Re: Akadama and Kanuma, Sydney $20 a bag
Hey Mister
I hope our Maidenwell is just as good and even better than the Akadama but as I have not tried either before I am looking forward to having something to compare it too.
I do think that shipping soil all over the world is not the most intellectual or environmental thing to do and we seem to be working out some very interesting mediums that are mined locally. I think it will help alot to compare with what others have said they have had exceptional results though.
I am very interested in scorio at the moment. Some guy is even selling what seems to be scorio dust on ebay as a mineral supplement to plants?

Re: Akadama and Kanuma, Sydney $20 a bag
Hi Steven,
I recognise the bags of Kanume and this is the "real stuff" - not the rubbish stuff I bought on one occasion mistakenly.
Cant wait to get my Azaleas repotted into it. All I need to do now is get back from the US of A - see ya bright and early on Saturday.
Brett - thanks for organising it mate........You have saved me heaps on what I have spent annually in the past. I reckon you deserve a pink bandage (private joke)
If you are not going to be able to make it down to Sydney - would you like me to look after yours?. I believe it will keep best at the bottom of some of my pots
I would also like to thank the "benefactor" who put up the "dough re me" in advance so this could all happen. Some people's generosity, trust and dedication knows no bounds
Regards
