In this instance, I used galvanised 'batten screws' - they require a hexagonal driver bit. While the screws are self-tapping, I would drill a pilot hole first, then affix the screw using my drill's lower speed. The Dremel I have came with an extension handpiece, but I've only used that once: maybe I wasn't using it correctly, but I found that it seemed to cause a power loss and a lot of added noise for no real benefit (the front of the handpiece is exactly the same width as the normal Dremel, so I don't think you can get any deeper into the work). Save your money and buy some decent cutting bits - I got my favourite bits from Dale Cochoy in the US of A.
