Plenty of roots there, you've done nicely. It's off to a good start. I too had trouble separating from the moss so have tried cutting it fine as suggested above, will see how that goes.

Surprisingly, I did that. My thoughts are that it was the size of the 'container' hiding the moss that was the the problem. If it had been bigger, the roots would have spread out more and that would make it easier to remove the moss.
That OR remove the layer earlier before the roots become all tangled...
