Reminds me a little of my large hornbeam some how :shifty:

I am most impressed that you keep updating the same thread now instead of starting a new thread whenever you update a tree

Although it did make me feel useful tracking down your old threads for you :?

An update, the tree has given me another branch and i drilled a hole for it and have manipulated it through. Middle, right hand side. With a bit of growth it will fill that gap perfectly. All pruned and ready for repot in September. Thanks for asking for an update on this Bonsai/not bonsai project.

It's quite creepy without leaves! Great tree. I've got some driftwood, tempting to try this.

I don't usually like tanuki, but this is well put together.

(Having said that, it looks to me like a six-year-old in Grandpa's Overcoat, trailling along the ground around him.)

Very fine tree. Ignore me.

Yes thanks for bringing this thread up.

I hadn't seen this one before and it is a particularly unusual experiment.

I reckon it's great to give things like this a go..
Some will turn out great others maybe not so..

It's all up to personal tastes at the end of the day and as far as I'm concerned it looks cool and is only getting cooler as the years evolve.
Keep up the good work Bodhi.

Thanks boics, I guess it doesnt matter if it is a Bonsai or not, it is still the cultivation and ramification and branch placement to keep the symmetry of the composition that counts. And in the end, it sits on my bench unless someone wants to buy it.

A little update on the Alder before a repot. it is healthy and developing ramification. It has certainly come a long way since its first post. Hell, i am starting to think i might even know what the hell it is i am doing. Oh, where was i :?:

What a neat tanuki!

Is there potential that the hollow stump will strangle the top part of the tree as it grows? Or will the stump just break?
