Had a awesome time today. Visited the collection and watched some of the workshop. Saw some trees finished. I'm sure some will pop up soon. (Edit: ken has beat my comment.)
A huge thank you to all who made it possible and to Pavel of course.

Re: The Inaugural NBPCA BONSAI WEEK
I'm heading to our capital tomorrow for a workshop with much thanks to Leigh, Shannon and the NBPCA
I'm taking along a couple of boring Junipers that I was going to move on at the 3rd annual AusBonsai Market Day (shameless plug) to see what can be done to improve one/both.
This Squamata I acquired in 2008 and has spent most of it's life since then sitting on the edge of my pond being neglected. I'm thinking it might be a good candidate for some big bends, deadwood creation and a much smaller tree in the end.
Here is the old thread for this one.
This Shimpaku has been a bit neglected lately and is way too tall for the trunk thickness.
I'm really looking forward to meeting Pavel and checking out the NBPCA during BONSAI WEEK!
Regards,
Steven

Re: The Inaugural NBPCA BONSAI WEEK
What an excellent night
A wonderful way to hold a demonstration, Think of a musical in the round and you get the idea, Stage in the middle, with seats, lounge chairs and coffee tables all around. A great atmosphere and wonderful views. Leigh encouraged everyone to get up and wander to get a different aspect and chat to different people.
Count me in for next year as it has to be about the best demo I have seen
Nice drinks a great finger food for all, and the collection trees were open to view under evening and night conditions.
Congratulations to all your team at the Arboretum Leigh and Shannon.

You are welcome Stewart.
Now that everyone has most likely arrived back home, please post the "afters" of your workshop trees.

Re: The Inaugural NBPCA BONSAI WEEK
Leigh,
I can't thank the NBPCA, staff, and volunteers enough for making this week happen!
I had a great time doing bonsai, and chatting with friends.
If bonsai week becomes annual, I can see the NBPCA pushing bonsai in Australia to new heights!
Unfortunately I neglected to take before pics
...but here are the afters

Re: The Inaugural NBPCA BONSAI WEEK
I echo Scott's thoughts. Pavel was terrific in my opinion and I had a great time, and attended three days of the "bonsai week". Great innovation and I hope it continues to grow.
A bit like Scott, before photos are rare, but the after is following. Its a buxus ( Japanese Box)
