the wisteria has had a change of mind . Most of my stock is still growing or dropping leaves without colour change . Looks like a poor show here .
Cheers . Alpineart

Beginning of June and I finally got some colour, then the rain came and took all the leaves off before I could get a photo. This was all that remains...

Like a I mention quite often I have a very mild climate here and my trees all show it. My chinese els rarely go diciduous, Figs and Hibiscus never stop growing and my Azaleas keep on shooting thru winter
This small Deshojo maple is typical by thumbing it nose at the so called winter here at the moment.
about 2 weeks ago we had a few cold days down to a few deg, but today I am in shorts and t shirt!

Brett, which cultivar is this one? (if it is a selected cultivar and not a seedling grown tree)

Truth, it's a Sango Kaku with an ugly graft - a genuine cultivar and stock tree. You can make out the stems starting to turn red. The last photo is a Kashima - I believe you have one too! How's it going? I acquired this one over summer, promptly burnt the leaves and its been sheltered under the Sango Kaku since, so hasn't coloured up too well.

I see, the coral bark maple I have must not be a true Sango Kaku, as I'm getting much more deep orange and red overtones to the leaves, much like my other green maples. The pale yellow as shown in your photos is blissful.
I got my Kashima late spring from memory, it pushed new buds out over mid-summer, but got promptly burned to a crisp. Just about all the leaves have dropped from that one now, not much colour. Definitely a cultivar that needs shade from midday onwards, which is what I've read even from our bonsai colleagues in the US and Europe too, in much milder climates.

None of my Sango Kaku turn that pale in autumn. Maybe Orpy has a ringer? There are many dodgy growers selling seed grown Sangu Kaku (which is technically not possible). The trouble is that the majority of seedlings from Sangu Kaku do have red colored stems so superficially they look ok but because they are seed grown other characteristics are NOT the same.
That pale colour is quite interesting though.
