this is a different off shoot of the topic pup, being bunjingi cascade or bungjingi upright cascade etc. personally i would consider these as part of the over all style as they are all a style off bungjingi (now i dont know if that makes sense ).
thats the way i see it, but i see what your saying to, just because a tree is designed in an upright fashion does that make it chokkan, moyogi or slanting? (i cant remember the name for slanting ) they can all be considered different styles of an upright formation so why not in bunjingi.

on a side note. it seems we already have a few interested in having a competition, maybe we should have a chat with steven to see if it is ok with him, im sure he wont mind, i hope....steven????

Shakan ( slanting ) if we start by saying a slanting style Bunjingi we are creating a sub section of Bunjingi. As Bunjingi already suggest a slight lean to the trunk or extreme slant, or Ochieda ( a long hanging branch ) or straight trunk, so as you see all, are already incorporated in the STYLE Bunjingi.

Here is a Quick Literati with a tripple trunk Coastal redwood ?Metsaquoia Sempervirens salvaged after the Beechworth Bushfires .Its only had 12 months growth in my care .Originally a tree of some 15-20 foot high and burnt to the ground .It Suckered up and thats how it was discovered Tallest tree is 1m high. I got excited and didn't take the pic with all the foliage , it was rather sparseThe remains of the trunk and the exposed roots

This little episode took around 30 minutes to wire and 10 minutes to style .Yes Fella's you can pick the SHARI out of it but thats why iv'e done it . Please keep all the Literati together so its easier to compare styles notes and crytics .I won't be in the comp but i will endevour to keep tabs on your progressions . Finished height of the tallest tree is 700mm ,no height reduction by cutting the tops off . Cheers and Happy Bonsai

Thanks for showing these Alpine. As far as critique goes it seems the biggest let down here is age. Sorry to only jump on the negative I am sure I could find something nice to say but working on the failings is the quickest way to learn

I don't fully understand this yet butI think this is a big clue as to getting literati to work and is not mentioned in other text

This little mulberry looked a bit boring so I changed it into a literati. It is about 10cm tall. When I changed the angle it never occured to me that deciduous trees are not meant to be used for this style Whatever

Deciduous is not excluded it is just thought harder to accomplish. Looks like you have done a great job. Would love to see it in leaf with the new form.

I bought this from Leigh Taafe a few years ago and haven't had time to work on it yet.

Pinus banksiana, the Jack Pine from north America. I won't enter the comp so maybe we could use this in one of Leighs virtual threads and have a competion for the best style(judged by me) I could put up a prize of some sort.

We used to do this at the Illawarra Tops weeekend and it was a lot of fun and you saw the tree in the flesh.

Mentioning Deciduous literati, I thought I might show mine

it is a Chinese Elm grown from seed in 2004.

Was just a stick, and as I had too many opf them thought i Might do it just for fun

Potted in this pot last year and need ot repot into a smaller one next year.

I have an rock i also thought about planting it with. I picked it up from the Dam wall at Hume Weir in Albury. It is a piece of local Granite that took my eye.
I thought the movement of tree and the shape of the rock "just fit" so was thinking of planting both together like the last photo.. Thoughts anyone?
