In my hort course they said a lot about foliar feeding, most of it good!

If you look closely in the first photos you will see some 1000litre tanks. That is my fertiliser station. Fill it with water and whatever fert i am using and straight onto the tree. I usually lay A Better grow organic fert on top of the soil and water in but i am experimenting with a product called Profert which is a liquid form
