Stunning trees indeed.
I really like the movement of the trunk in this one

There was another one with similar girth but arguably more interesting movement that I missed drying out at one stage…. It never recovered which is probably one of the biggest regrets I have as far as bonsai related fatalities.
Live and learn…
I have one still to repot that I am thinking of growing out in a way similar to how I imagined that dead one developing… kind of a tribute tree!

Gave this tree a trim today, and then decided it probably deserved a bit of wire to keep things in line.
I've also been doing work on the others in this thread, will need to update when I get around to taking some images.

I like that tree, nice flow in the trunk.

I often find that when I initially intend on just giving a tree a trim I end up getting fussy and wiring it too.

Yeah, this is definitely a thing. It's hard to leave it after you go to the trouble of cutting back ... I really wanted to compress the top bend on the trunk so once that got underway, there was no stopping until the rest was wired too.

Update with images for a few of the other ones as promised.
I'm pretty sure the styling won't be to everybody's taste (there's a bit of a pine vibe in there I think) ... but you can't please all the people all the time!

Best not to please anyone but yourself when making little trees I think. These are becoming great trees Reece! I'm interested to see how the branches will mature. Can you make them dense like a pine I wonder?

Started cleaning out these Sheoaks today ... think I like this one when it's spun a bit (anti-clockwise) compared to the last time I posted a picture of it.
Anyway, the pot is round so it's easy enough to chop and change between fronts!
I'm done now I think with the basic silhouette, time to look at refining that foliage and hopefully adding a touch more density into the design.

In response to this Delisea, I don't know if they'll get the same density as a pine, but this one has been in "refinement" a bit longer than the others and I feel like the density is increasing as a result, particularly if you look back through the thread at earlier iterations. It is definitely starting to develop a more "pad-like" structure which appeals to me enough to keep at it!

A couple more…

Here's an update on a few of these I played around with this morning.. The first two are bigger than shohin, probably getting up to around 25cms tall ... but the third is within shohin height. I'm not too fussed about keeping strictly any size ... just what I think looks best proportionally in the end I guess.
I trimmed back again in January quite hard and now have a lot of new growth as expected. I like to pinch that back a bit about now to create pads of "foliage".
Very happy with these, a pleasure to work on really.
