I remember from quite a few years back on Don Burke's show 'Backyard' that Don referred to "yer bonzais" when doing a bonsai segment. He even said that he had being practising the art of bonsai for twenty years. My mate and I gave up on him after that. (shudder)

This old nugget still keeps them coming, but I will only comment on our dear friend Don he has been doing Bonzia for 20 years, he has even published articles way back in Bonsai down under and Bonsai Australia, in the early 80's.

He lost me on that segment, when he said, if you have not re potted all your trees by the end of August it is to late. I always have and always will refrain from making that a hard and fast statement as climate and location determine that.
It does hark back to watch all gardening shows and go to all demonstrations because you will learn something even if it is a mistake.

Now I will leave you, to the snake oil no it is not discussion, and please keep it civil.

Cheers   Pup

I battle on Pup. I still hope one day we can just discuss how best to use this stuff instead of whether it works as there is so much to learn.

Lots of people like to have a dig at Don and I don't get it. Sure the guy is not perfect but if you think you can do a better job grow a beard put on a woolly jumper and get in front of the camera. Don was a nurseryman that found much misinformation in the community about gardening and set out to rectify this.
He works to stop tree arborists killing our street trees he is pushing for better labeling on garden chemicals for our kids future and he gets it up the manufactures of potting mixes that collapse within twelve months. Oh and also makes sure to plug the cottage garden nurseries that don't just stock the popular plants of month.
He is very open about his sponsors is very willing to admit when he was wrong.

Oh but he pronounced Bonsai wrong that's right

A member here gave me a great tip of downloading Dons program of the Internet and listening to it anytime while working in the garden. One of the best tips I ever had. Thanks Sreeve. I have a note book full of hints tips and some great supply stores.

I often cringe at such statements too Pup but as we see from Lindsays Recent appearance on TV it can be very hard to explain in such a short time and a simple broad statement in such circumstances may be better than anything else we can say. You are very right though. I had been told a vague description of doing a pebble path but seeing it done on Better Homes and Garden last night was a ripper. I gotta do that. I never knew it went out of fashion
Haven't seen Costa for a while now he is a crackup. My 3 year old was calling him a scary monster on TV so it was very funny when we got to see him in person over at Cowra Blossom Festival.

Oh and Remember I still have you on my List Pup :P

AH shari, ya still got me, and I still use it just do not discuss it any more   :P . Yes he does do a lot of good, but I prefer my own countenance when it comes to Bonsai.
As for the wrong pronunciation he is not the only one,and there are many septics as well that do it   :) . Cheers Pup

WORM JUICE!!!
Worm castings naturally contain Auxins and Cytokinins, the hormones that promote bigger and more fibrous plant roots.
Go the juice!!! :D
