Gidday Jamie, you have a bit of a problem there. Since its a root over rock tree then the roots should be a feature as they are in the second pic. Is there any way at all to adjust the trunk so you can use that side as a front ?. The root flow in the second pic is really nice. Can you change the angle of the rock to the trunk is not leaning away so much on that side ?

there could be some adjustment craig, it will need a little bit of fiddling but could be done, i know what you mean by the roots should be a feature.
what are your thoughts on grafting saplings in? there are a couple of nice channels which could be used to good effect on the "front".

I have no doubt the grafting would work you would just have to be patient while the roots thicken and grip the rock.

Re: clerodendrum on rock.
hi guys,
another little update on this one, it is going to semi cascade game plan so it is going to need a lot more growing now. also as craig said earlier in the thread about the roots not being as much of a feature of the front than the back, in saying that Rod has been kind enough to give me a few thin clero that I can use to graft some roots onto the front to get it sorted, just need to get up and see him again
my plan is to also extend the right hand branch and also grow a fuller canopy instead of the padded look.
