Certainly not to me Neil. My question has been answered in that I now know it ain't crab apple and to get the crab part I will need to graft... I was unaware of this
the perennial bonsai question: Start with seed or cuttings and grow it yourself? Purchase someone else's work and continue development?it makes me wonder whether to take the root cutting at all - rather than just buy a crab apple.
