Also leigh says to add 1 hour for photography!
We already had the lights at the lowest level so we moved the lights away about 1 meter. Now that it is a bit less bright you can see the back branches from the front where possible.

Nice subtle make over gentlemen (and Lorraine). It really does look untouched by human hands - a credit to all who worked on it!
Can't wait to see it in 360° and in the flesh! Now where is that 'rubbing hands together in anticipation' emoticon?
Regards,
Steven

Re: English elm raft au naturale.
Hi all,
Its coming back into leaf quite nicely now. We will keep the first flush of growth trimmed to allow slower buds and growth to catch up. That should give us nice even growth all over.
The owner is very happy with the work we have done!
We will now keep an eye on it and evaluate whether to defoliate a second time or not.
Enjoy

That really is an awesome setting - and you guys have done yourself proud in your work of pruning to bring the best out of it. Give yourselves a pat on the back.

Re: English elm raft au naturale.
Hi everyone,
i just had a PM from someone asking about the English elm raft; so I have bumped the thread.
We did not do a second defoliation on this tree this year as the season was a bit funny; as all those experiencing floods will atest.
It has been very mild this summer instead of the usual heat.
The raft is doing very nicely but an occasional old leaf is now starting to turn yellow.

Thanks Grant, I forgot about this one. I was thinking of the other informal upright English Elm. Is that still at the collection?
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

That one has gone home. QV was the owner of that one as well but he said he doesn't bother defoliating that one.

Re: English elm raft au naturale.
Keep coming back to have another look at this beauty. Wow what a tree. Totally changed my feeding regime this year. Full strength, high Nitrogen feed with every watering and I'm getting fantastic growth already in our Spring. Here's hoping for ramification like this one.

Re: English elm raft au naturale.
Look forward to it Leigh. I have a couple of really good EE rafts. Can I send them over for a few years of Aus weather?
