Hi Paul, today i received the pot you sent me. Thanks mate , great work it's a magnificent pot, the rim shows up in the pic as a creamy color but in fact it is a greeny color,i love it,, Talk soon, thanks again,

I ordered 2 pots which arrived yesterday, but unfortunately 1 was broken in transit
Have emailed Paul with photos, and as the shipment is insured I will get a replacement. Bummer tho, but kudos to Paul who is one of the top blokes

Hi Ken, i never used to worry about breakages but now , at least you'll get another, but will it be the same, , never mind i'm sure the replacement will rival the broken one, cheers Ken

Yeah unfortunately hand made pots are each unique, So who knows maybe Paul has another similaR, Lets hope so

I appreciate the kind words Craig.

I'm glad you were not disappointed by the difference in color.

Unfortunately, that is one of the pitfalls of the internet. Due to differences in the individual monitors and personal settings, the true color of a pot is not always evident. This particular glaze is one of my personal favorites and is called Nickle Green.

It's funny, your package was shipped 7 days before Craig's package but was delivered almost on the same day. You got to love the post office.

Non-potters may not realise that glazes are not like paints, where you open a tube, splash it on, and what you see is what you get.

Glazes (deep breath, large amounts of screaming in the background) OFTEN DO ANY DAMN THING THEY LIKE!!!!

There are complex reactions as glazes melt between the glaze components, the clay that you've used, how thickly you've put it on, how the flames move around the pot if you are firing with gas or wood, how much, or little, oxygen gets to that particular corner of the kiln, how long and how evenly the heat holds, what shape and thickness the pot is, and even, what components are in the glaze on the pot next to it, as compounds slowly melt, boil, slide downwards, mush up, drop off, and sometimes evaporate. Anyone who has fired pots has great respect for anyone who can glaze reliably and artistically.

Hello Penny,

I appreciate the positive feedback.

You are spot on about Nickle. It can be a very frustrating oxide when used on it's own. It requires a very specific chemistry in the glaze formula to produce a good green color.

Thanks for your input Gavin, I could not have said it any better myself.

Most folks do not realize how difficult it is to get consistently good results from high temperature, atmospheric firings.

As you mentioned, there are so many variables involved with these types of firings that the final outcome is always in doubt.

Last December, I ordered 2 pots from Paul fro mine a Julies Chrissy presents, and the turned up just after chrissy, but alas one of them was broken during shipping.
As Paul Insures all deliveries, we made a claim on Aussie post / US postal and the cost of the post was refunded by them. ( unfortunately the shipping cost was not covered ).

Once the Claim was approved, then Paul made a new pot to replace it . As a hand made pot like Pauls cannot be replicated exactly, he made 5 slightly different ones and I selected the Oxide finish to go on them all and once fired, Selected the pot to be delivered as a replacement .
It arrived this week, and to say I am happy is an undertatement

For those Interested in buying a pot from overseas, I can highly recommend Paul as a "top bloke" and you can be assured of great service

Now all I need is some real nice trees to go in them of which I have a few candidates on the benches
