Hi all,
As you can imagine yesterday was a tad busy and so was today. We estimate we had about 5,000 visitors yesterday and another 1,000 or more today.
It was great to see everyone both new and old to bonsai; lots of friends there in the crowd that you only got a few minutes to chat to at the most

The cafe is open and there is to be a restaurant by the end of the month.
There is to be a major dinner this week for the business community and we will get to show off the collection to a very influential crowd of people and the new lights as well.

The old collection had approx 32 trees on display whereas yesterday we had 85; there is a huge range of trees including many from a recent donation from Tasmania.
I believe we now have the best trident maple in Australia on display; plus a huon pine and a very interesting Eucalypt; eucalyptus vernicosa or Varnished eucalypt. It has the tiniest leaf of all the Eucalypts and grows at altitude in tasmania only at 700 to 1,350 mtrs.

Some of the trees are much larger in life than photos i have seen. A Brilliant display with some fine trees. A particular Banksia Serrata Blew my mind

The setup is amazing as well and has been thought out very well indeed. I encourage everyone able to visit to do so, the location of the site is impressive also.

One thing I forgot to mention was not just the quality of the trees but the condition was also EXCELLENT. Great work to all that are working on and caring for the trees, I will be back to get some much needed tips and advice

A photo taken very early in the morning of 1st feb; just before the official opening of the Arboretum.
The lights work very well as you can see.

Thanks for posting more pics Grant - we can't wait to come and see the display. Here are a couple of photographs of Lyn's maple taken in seasons past. I am so glad it is on display in the collection, it is, like so many others there, a magnificent tree.
