It was a nice day, it was nice to finally meet you guys Steven and Ken. Can't remember the other names of the guys I ran into. I was the one with a baby girl strapped to my chest and my 6 year old son beside me. Unfortunately my daughter spectacularly "fertilized" herself, and I was woefully unprepared for this. It proved to be too much trouble, so after being unable to resist one more of Janet's pots, I made my way home. I was disappointed I didn't get to talk about all things 'casuarina' with you Steven, but maybe next time. My wife had a 'hair' appointment this morning, thus I was strapped with the kids.

My son was very grateful for the chips Steven, thank you, it rounded out his complete breakfast, having previously scrounged for something at a petrol station. He commented, 'wow, that was a nice man, he gave me free chipees and I didn't have to pay for them!" It made his day, because he wanted another tree for himself, but I told him we can't fit any more. We have far too many.

One of these years I'm going to turn up to this thing. I will only be able to buy pots, but looks like a great day anyways.

Sounds like an awesome result people's.
Loving the hype in this thread sounds to me like this is gaining momentum!

Well done again Steven and all that contributed (sellers and buyers).

Was great to run into a few people I hadn't seen for a while and meet some people from the forum.

I didn't buy anything, which took a hell of a lot of will power, as the value was exceptional. I did go home later after work and get into some maintenance on some of my trees after drawing inspiration from the event.

How did the tables look at the end of the day. Hope they were empty.

Well done organisers! Lucky I had a time limit and only so much cash in my pocket. I came away with a water gum, nice size twin trunk fig and a wild juniper. The water gum and fig have received a tweak and now just need a repot. The juniper will be slowly turned into a semi cascade, lots of work/wire on that one yet. I saw two or three other trees I wanted but by the time I did a quick lap of the market they were gone. Thanks guys, coffee van was a good touch, shame the local soccer was on at the same time, I parked a long way a way......

Well done, Steven; you did it again. I had a great time. It's now definitely a major event in the Bonsai calendar. Only hope all those who were disappointed in any way, can be appeased next year. Perhaps you can rope off one parking spot to leave access for additional parking on all that grass?! And it would seem maybe supply a nappy changing tent! I looked forward to it and was not dissappointed. How about two a year? :D

Regards, AnneK.

:tu2: I think 2 a year is good - definitely give other people to plan ahead of time if they can't make it to one then they can attend the next one.
Or even in the next event, there could be a mini workshop!

I was thinking the same thing re a "workshop" area.
A spot where you could take your newly purchased trees for advice and work.
I thought I saw mason working on a juni on his table?
There could be a small fee to cover costs/supplies.

If there was a mini workshop - I could've taken 1 purchased/nursery bonsai to the event and seek some advice as well

What a terrific day, thanks Steven,I came away with a tree or two and met some nice Bonsai nutters, I think numbers were up too, just one suggestion maybe a club or two could have had a sausage sizzle going like they do a bunnings and made a few bob for their club or if they don't want to do it maybe the local lions or rotary,I know I was getting a tad hungry by the end of the day
