Hmmm.... Just for clarity - I am not fussed whether photos are upside down, sideways and bang on straight up. And I have thanked Watto numerous times for a great thread.

I simply noted that the problem existed for some photos for me - reinforcing that Beano was not alone. Further, having some touch points on the IT industry - issues can’t be fixed if people are unaware and I thought it might have something to do with the recent server upgrade - probably not - but it’s hard to tell unless the scale of the issue is known, so it’s generally good and polite practice to report such issues.

I am rather fortunate because I can view and access the forum on numerous technologies; if I was really hassled - I’d just open my computer.

Watto - apologies if the photo issue has become a bane - just keep posting and we that are having an issue can manage accordingly - no drama. This is an excellent thread and Watto your photos are appreciated.

And the Prunus is still my favourite.

I think the rotation issue has something to do with the exif data that is in each photo when taken. The way to fix it so the orientation is always upright is for the person uploading to open the photo in whatever program they like to edit in, rotate it (even if it looks right when they open), rotate back so the photo is upright and then re-save... done. This will “reset” the exif data and the photo should come up in correct orientation.

I have found that too.
When ive uploaded on a computer before and thtis was before the upgrade too, it still comes up sideways sometimes but if I do what ryceman says it fixes the problem.

Yeah, it’s not really helpful to say everyone should use a computer. Eventually most people will mainly use phones or tablets.

Thankyou Lisa, we had a great time. Because we were travelling I could only fit in a couple of small pots but I am very happy with them.
One of the interesting things about the show is the size of the traders/vendors area. It would have been two football fields in size and it was packed, not only with sellers but with buyers too. There would have been 30 to 35 stands just selling pots and all but two were selling hand made originals. I should also say that the Australian pot makers are equal to the European sellers (that probably should be makers) but there is simply not sufficient buyers in Australia.
Anyway, this is the last post on this topic, but if you would like to see a few more photos of the exhibition, there are a few posts on my blog that relate.

OMG, the stand under the Elaeagnus on your blog!!!

There were certainly some different and exciting displays at the exhibition.
I have been very fortunate in going to the Kokufu-Ten exhibition in Japan last year and to the"Trophy" exhibition in Belgium this year and to see such excellent trees around the world has been fantastic.
I'm going out on a limb here and say that I think Europe is fast catching to Japan in bonsai quality.

I should also say that the Australian pot makers are equal to the European sellers (that probably should be makers) but there is simply not sufficient buyers in Australia.

There would be, if they could be reached without the potters having to spend a fortune on travelling, and then have to pay a percentage of their earnings to the clubs that invited them.(In that regard, some are more lenient than others.)
How about putting forward a motion that potters and other craftspersons be SUBSiDISED to attend major bonsai events far from their homes?

That tree was "featured" in the magazine Espirit Bonsai No 97 following the 2018 European Bonsai-San Show @ Saulieu in France. I had a close look at the tree and the buds and it looked like a Chinese elm, the owner calls it a Chinese elm so I'm guessing it is a Chinese elm.
Could be wrong as I'm no expert. It looks like every branch has been carved at some stage to create the effect. I will see if I can get a closer photo of the branch structure.
