I pulled these weeds out of a cherry that is on the back burner. This is pretty congested here but the Cherry and everything around it is going fine
Anything that shows signs of this has been well ventilated since leaf break.

This is a picture of a trident that should be growing a nice strong leader but has been my biggest fear of losing.
I don't think it will last much longer without a cure.

I gave this tree a dose of triforine systemic fungicide yesterday but today I found that the fungus is now visible on the branches.

I think I have my first fatality from this. I believe I posted the trident above that is a root over ornament. One of my first trees that came with my Japanese hornbeam.

my tridents have suffered from that at one point . im not sure exaculty the reason, fungus, conditions, humidity etc i know it makes them cease growing well and with extreme cases you may lose a branch. i defoliated mine and it came back strong. few months latre same issue. it comes and goes. im hoping when i move south it will stop. I havent lost a tree from it yet but growing time yes
I get the bravo tomorrow. Fingers crossed

Once a tree has lots of growth this fungus seems to go away, well dormant at least. I figure the extra growth is enabling the soil media to dry quicker which the fungus does not like.
The bravo is definitely helping. On the last application I trimmed back a bit to make application easier. (not long wispy branches everywhere.
The new leaves are starting to come out now. Looking better but I would not say 100% success yet.
I have lost trees from this but mostly they are smaller sized trees that where dug out of the garden and had severe root work done.
I have lost a small hornbeam after a defoliation experiment and now a larger hornbeam from accidental defoliation. I have had the trident battle on after defoliation and although the hornbeams don't seem as affected they can go down hill much faster. So battling leaf burn this year is scary.

That is what I like to see Ryan. I would recommend giving several lime sulfur treatments through the winter and if you can get hold of some bravo I think it will be a great preventative treatment in spring as they break dormancy. That is my plan on whatever I can get through the winter
Not sure heading south will cure it Noah. In fact I would be very careful you don't spread it. It seems so far this is a NSW thing. Maybe that is climate but I doubt it.
Better to be on the safe side
