Cheers,
Leigh.

Thanks for the comments just one week as I was teaching right up until the week before. I had the option to do a fortnight but could not squeeze the time. Did you set up for the chrissy trade Leigh?

Hi Mase (& Leigh), whilst many of those of us who live in/near Sydney support our resident Sydney Bonsai nurseries......I think it would be fair to say that many of us would like the opportunity to meet / talk to / and support both of you when you come up this way.

Whilst I dont live in Sydney, I would be more than happy to travel down.

I am sure I am not the only one.

Can you help us / you and let us know when and where you are travelling to other areas

Regards
Steve

Hi Mason - yes - now that I run my nursery from home it is a great opportunity to get some traffic flow from a shopping centre - when I had my nursery in Pialligo, I didnt need to - the traffic was already there.

Hi Steve - I only trade in Canberra, however, I will be assisting in a demonstration at the AABC seminar this year - hope to catch up with a few of the ausbonsai members there.

Regards,
Leigh.

Well done Mase, that is getting it out there and promoting yourself. I would be interested to know if it worked for you? Like Leigh i work from home and would do something like this if it was worth my while. Did the trees suffer being inside for a week or did you have to set up every day? I would imagine you would have got a lot of lookers.

It worked out very well, the rent can be very steep $4000 + at that time of year, but like anything shop around for leasing prices. Trees were fine for the week, I moved/rotated sun lovers after 2 days etc but elms and ficus all fine. Unfortunately for bonsai lovers most go for gifts and therefore most to the grave but with good after care service and a solid back up plan (contact numbers/web site etc) hopefully many people will fall in love with bonsai any a new wave of interested members will join ausbonsai.
Take care Mase

Hi all

Just a quick update on the nursery, after many inquiries over the last 4 months I have not been able to sell the nursery as an entire lot. I think 1000+ bonsai make most people ask where do I start??? :)

So as of April Bonsai at the Bay is still open but with revised times. I am teaching 5 days so during the week is difficult to see clients. After 4pm is good and obviousally weekends is good. Please just call before you arrive as a lot of you are travelling a long way to Woollamia.

I could not bring myself to just get rid of 16 years of work, it will become a glorified hobby for the next 20 years or so. I still have 800 bonsai in the nursery and over 600 in the field so hopefully I still have something to offer you all.

Thanks for all of the comments over the months whilst trying to sell, but it looks like it is mine for life. I guess Bonsai does that to you. ;)
