It will be interesting to hear your thoughts when you next repot.
I find that I have a mass of fine feeder roots with Akadama and Kanuma which are often not apparent beforehand.
I find it more than some of the other soils I have used in the past.

The trick is keeping the moisture up to it as it will dry out quicker than some other mediums

Looks like I got in just a touch too late for the Akadama. I've been wanting to try it out. Firstly, what has everyone made of it? And where can I now get some? I've been wanting to get some firsthand info from someone who has actually used it. Thanks so much guys.

Most of us have used ours by now. I have a little left still for next potting season. I think I prefer to use diatomite tho

I had heard the talk of dolomite as well, but know nothing about it either. I'll do a bit of research and see what I can find. Cheers
