well every one is asking wheres my tree so i went back dug the rest today an hour dig all up one snaped pick a big blister saw back saturated shirt well here it is its a large twin trunk privett with both trunks hollowed out naturally right through to the roots
potted in allmost staight diatomite and watered in with auxinone and clonex

guess who has buds popping all over the place!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

and nice dayne!!! should look sweet in no time!

edit- bit hard to see but they are there all round the trunk, and on both of mine, and chris, yours is pushing new growth too

hey dayne, how did you go with getting that thick as root out from underneath it? it looked like it was gonna cause ya some trouble?

Very nice Dayne will be a cracker of a tree ,I went straight diatomite for mine ,no buds yet (I think)although this rain has been good ,not long now.excellent news Jamie

yeah to right mate i have still kept them in shade for now but i am thinking once these buds pop they will be going out into morning sun

what are all your thoughts on this

shades fine for a little while i dont like to move mine for a while as neww roots are really damaged easily but shannons the man id prob check with him

cheers dayne, it might not hurt to keep em in the shade till they really start getting strong

a little update-

on one that i have which i plan on doing a formal broom style with i am getting buds popping all over the joint.
this one has been chopped down to half the size it was originally collected and will probly get another chop soon once its buds have extended more and harden off a bit. i think it will work out quite well, whether or not it comes off as shohin size or just over i think i will get it close, and being a broom i know it is going to be hard to pull of being one of the harder styles to do but i would like to challenge myself with this tree

the other one i collected which i did a virt for whether it comes in as shohin size or not im not quite sure but i have got budding right down low which might make it quite possible for a sumo style size tree
these pictured above are still quite young but are going well. the next picture is showing the extension of some of the shoots that budded out first. not bad since we only collected them on the 30th of december and it is now the 17th of january, so in less than 20 days on a bare rooted tree these two are going really strong.
all three trees have been kept in the shade for the whole time and have only received indirect light, i will slowly adjust them to full sun over a few weeks once the shoots have really extended well and some more cuts have been made


the one for chris has got extensions of shoots all over the place. it is very strong


how is yours gong tony? any signs of shooting yet? and the privet?

well the privett has shot and starting to boom allmost time to start feeding it heavy cant wait for this one

well i figured while dayne is showing his popping new shoots i figure i might aswell show how far mine have come. the one i am going for broom style is just going great gunds, the informal upright one i have a selected leader that is thickening well and will be allowed to grow freely for a long time

Can you guys tell me if they are Celtis growing on the side of the road, Brisbane side of Aldi in Gympie?
Drove through there on my way home yesterday and noticed they are starting to leaf out again. From your efforts here thought I might like to head back down and snaffle a couple.

By the way, how are everyones trees coming on from this dig?

hi havnt been to gympie much but there is alot down here my privett is booming and is for sale if any one is after a very old big tree
