As this is the forum that deals with benches. I thought I would show mine here as I said all Australian trees. Pup I did not realise there were two the same sorry

I was too busy looking at the fantasic trees I didn't notice either.

Nice bonsaiery.... but I DON'T like the dragon pot with what looks to be a leptospernum petersonii [lemon scented tea tree]. I can see this pleasing tree in a Mirkwood Forest pot to really bring out its character. Maybe I have mis-identified it but the leaves appear long and slender and with the reddish colouration, that says LP to me. Oh please, do the tree justice and look for a Mirkwood pot. Yes, you are quite right, I have a thing about oriental pots and Aussie trees.... some do work, others just end up telling a totally different story to the tree. On the other hand, if you like them together and and it's your tree... go for it and ignore me.

Ooops... just submitted my previous comment and realised you are in WA. I don't think Mirkwood Forest Bonsai Pots would be available there. More's the pity. Pat Kennedy used to have a website but he moved near Tumut in rural NSW and it is back to snail mail. You have to have good potters in WA... you should start stirring to get one of them to make some pots that would have that refined harshness that suits our natives.

You are right it is a Leptospermum but it is Brachyandrum (weeping tea tree) The pot is not my first choice its only redeeming feature is that it is a genuine Dragon pot and not a copy. The one decent maker of Bonsai pots in WA hs gone back to Japan. So I will have to keep looking, when I go to the UK next year I will see what I can get. I might even send the dimensions I want to my mate and see if he can get one made.

I swear there must be a way to get a potter I know to make some good quality bonsai pots.

Are your benches made from hardwood, pup? They seem to have weathered very nicely.

Hector, the benches are made from h5 treated pine.
The last lot which lasted 21 years were Jarrah, but this time I did not have a son working in the timber industry as it is not around any more.
So I had to go with the cheaper option we will have to wait and see how long this lot last. Pup
