101 olive tree setting...

for my 500th post,
i thought i might share with you the journey thus far of a hardknocksbonsai project that entails 101 african olives.
it all started with the discussion of asymmetry and odd numbers in settings, and the point that it is ok to have even numbers because there is just too many trees for our eyes to care.
so lads being lads, we took it a step further... one hundred and ONE just to make sure the numbers are odd
we gathered stacks of yamadori olives and chucked a couple together in varying compositions...

we were then asked to demonstrate at the school of bonsai's ideas summit after we attended some classes there...

the demo's finished product...

then, later... unfortunately i couldn't make it up to nsw because of uni, but we were asked to demo again this time at bonsai by the harbour, so jermaine and smitty jumped on the second setting...

i have limited numbers of these photo's at the moment, but we have changed the second setting slightly.
i have chucked the two settings together in my very early photoshopping days, in a possible two cloud setting of settings.

there will be more "clouds" of settings, differing heights and depths, with a definite ONE tree, the hardknocksbonsai one hundred and ONE tree olive setting.

na you didn't, so flick em through...
we were invited to do another at bonsai by the harbour, but smitty hates the stairs with the granite, and he's the one in syd at the moment doin a top job looking after the trees, jermaine is down here and me too...
i will certainly be saving my dockets for the illawarra's aabc, i would be at every function if i was still a sparky in syd. but im a broke arse student.
unfortunate for me...

Wouldnt it be great to do a pine one in a shopping centre just before Christmas, you would have a thousand new bonsai addicts by the time it was finished. Make a little Christmas scene with a Santa, hehehe. Made me think of those sandcastle sculptures they sometimes do. And a well manned sales table somewhere nearby of course!
