I bought this Liquidambar from a nursery for its bark, I have not seen one with bark like this before. I plan on air-layering it in a week or two and get 3, maybe 4 tree from it. Can someone please help me ID the exact species of LIQUIDAMBAR? Thanks in advance

Agree with Grant - just the standard LA. I have seen some LA with these "growths" on them - but I don't know what it is.

I believe it's just bark Tony.

An extract from wiki;
"Another distinctive feature of the tree is the peculiar appearance of its small branches and twigs. The bark attaches itself to these in plates edgewise instead of laterally, and a piece of the leafless branch with the aid of a little imagination readily takes on a reptilian form; indeed, the tree is sometimes called Alligator-wood"
