These were dug from the side of road under a huge pine tree, so I obviously thought they were pines of some sort. However they have not developed candles whereas the tree above where these came from has. So im hoping someone can help me out. Thanks

Hi Luke, it looks like Pinus pinea, Stone pine .

seconded.
young pines of differening sprecies can have very different foliage as young seedlings. they can make great trees. I am pretty sure Dumper had a few before he moved OS

Thanks guys, the bark on the mature tree looks like the same as those on wikipedia. These trees are everywhere in my area
