Ficus Benji - bonsai prospect

Hi guys,

I was trolling the local waldeks after work today and came across this Ficus Benjamina. I would say that the trunk is about 3inches thick at the base and it has quite a few branches and foliage closer to the base than I have normally seen before from a 'normal' nursery. the root system seems healthy all around the tree and it looks very healthy. Does anyone think this may have some future potential ? I didn't buy it as I wanted to get a couple of opinions.
Keep in mind I am just starting out and I have kept in mind  some of the advice to help me acertain what to look for in nursery stock. Not sure if i succeeded in this case but I thought I'd ask. As an aside, the price for this one is $45. happy to pay that if it has some decent chance of looking great as a bonsai in the future.

thanks in advance :tu:

3 inche or 3 cm????????????

mate if it is 3cm i would go spend the money at a proper bonsai nursery, you will pick up a tree with much more potential than that for 45

Hi Jamie,

I should have put a scale on it but I was at the nursery so I didn't have anything handy. Its definitely around 3 inches at the base and has a lot of thick branches. Wether it has potential is the issue.
I am heading to a bonsai nursery this weekend so I will compare their trees and prices.
