I brought this guy and another of similar size from bonsai northside for $12.50 each probably a year ago. Unfortunately they were left at my mums place and neglected for the past 8 or so months. Got one back a few weeks back and this one today. Both were alive but no foliage what so ever, one dead stem on the other, this one the entire top had died. Still looks healthy enough down the bottom so gave it a cut back (chucked a small cutting in the pot) and now to wait for it to come back. As with the other the new growth will probably a little slow and small at first but once they get going they should be fine. Once they start to recover i will do repotting and minor root work.

Current dimensions are 90mm tall, 50mm base. No idea whats under the soil but will find out eventually.

Looks like a potjackson fig to me. Very pot bounded. You need to do some root work and repot it. It will shoot out in no time. I did 3 similar one 3 weeks ago. They are now in full leaves.
Cheers,
DK

Deff not rubiginosa, i actually doubt the authenticity of most rubiginosa bonsai i see, they just dont look anything like true rubiginosa. I'll get a comparison of rubiginosa/obliqua in the next few days
