Ok guys, Here is my first rock pot i found in a field. I carved it out using a grinder with diamond wheel, then a rock chissel and last a drill with masonary bit for drainage holes. Been wanting to do this for a while and finally i had a go, I should also mention when handling a rock like this, is best to get a hashen bag and fill with sand. Makes a really steardy base.Any one else made pots like this? If so would love to see. Now i got About five more i have to get started on

Not quite the same scale roka, but I bet mines easier to move around

That's a small leaf benji in it. I had a second one but it dried too much one day and the fig is dead now. I have some bigger ones - but I have always concentrated on slabs.

I like that. How did you carve it? I too have a big granite slab i got two weeks ago from Tollangi state forest, and its over 1.2m big.

Just cut a depression in it with a 100 continuous rim diamond wheel in an angle grinder. Then drilled a hole in the bottom for drainage.

Hi All, I also really like your rock pot Roka. Here are some pics of what I've been doing with rocks. The first is a rock with a hole all the way through. I've planted a young Juniper in it. The next is my first attempt at root over rock, followed by two planters I've constructed out of shale from my property. I live on what amounts to a big pile of shale overlooking the Macleay R., so I have a lot of the stuff. I like to use moss and lichen where I can...tends to compensate for the young trees.
Cheers,
Gail

Hi again Roki, yeah, the white gravel is a bit stark...I only put it together a couple of days ago. Its supposed to represent water, and will eventually take on a greenish tinge. I've also added a couple of small moss islands to break it up a bit.
Gail.
