I have been talking to the Mt Sylvia people about their diatomite.
They have 35 litre prepacked bags sold under the name Kleensorb.
Size is 2-7mm, I am picking up a sample bag later in the week.
Minimum order out of the mine is one pallet of 50 x 35 litre bags.
I am waiting on a freight quote into Melbourne before I can advise a bag price.

As far as I can glean, Maidenwell is not going to re-open, they have sold off all of their machinery.

Russell & Sonja Dicker. Vitec are selling the 35kg bags for $21. They are now out of stock but have a shipment on the way. If some of the clubs get together thay may be able to get a small discount from Vitec on a bulk order.

A touchy/feely of the material shows it to be as tough/brittle as the Maidenwell. The average size would be 4mm, Myself, I will sieve out the fines and use them in my propagating mixes.

The mine is located between Toowoomba and Brisbane, you can buy direct in 50 bag pallets at a good price but you still need to add freight and GST.

Im currently using kleensorb in my mix, so far so good. I think I got my dad to pick it up from some place in Sydney though, so probably not much help to you sorry.

For Brisbane and SE Qld folk, the good guys at Redcliffe Produce and Supplies sell Mt Sylvia bags Diatomite for $13.60 i think.

Picked up two bags recently and all good.

A lot of pet stores sell it as cat litter but it can be a bit more expensive. It is sold as Mt Sylvia Kleensorb - don't ask for diatomite as you will just get blank looks
