A short post..people coming into my Nursery either absolutely love this Wisteria or hate it with a passion. It was recently on display at the Lakehouse resort and was put in a prime place in the foyer. When i went to pick it up it was in a far corner. Put there by the owners Daughter. When i picked it up the manager came out and said..oh, your taking back the contentious Bonsai, people argued over it. Dont know what the big deal is really..I dont mind it.

I dont hate it... but.. It would be more appealing to my eye, if there was more moment in the trunk and a little more going on up top as far as branch placement/or more branches overall. Or I think if the bulk of the foliage was manipulated to the right, and then refined from there. My

Put me down for love it.

I think the trunk has enough character not to require more movement. Put me in the love it column

Hi Bodhi ,well i love the trunk , love the pot but i think planting this specimen at a 45 degree angle would do more justice to the tree itself .Shooting out of a Crescent pot up at 45 or down at 45 , like a canon ball in a blaze of glory

Nah it's OK, eye catching at least. Art should make you feel something.

I think the pot and the base under the pot detract completely from the impact of the tree in fact I would go for a deeper very plain (almost stone like) tapered cylindrical pot and do away with anything fancy (if anything) under the pot,

When I looked at your snap I saw the pots before anything else. But what a great tree.

I have to agree with this. My eyes were drawn to the pot, then the stand, and finally the tree itself. I love the tree, hate the stand, and I think the pot would suit another tree better as it seems to overpower you wisteria. Ans that says a lot considering it is in flower!!. I agree with Alpine also, I think a crescent would be fantastic, or something more subdue if you use a cascade pot. just my

Love the tree - if it were mine I would comission a very tall lilac pot the take the place of the present pot and stand. I guess it would be nice if it had a bit more movement, but here in the real world . . . . . . .

I see a crane sitting on the side of the pot reaching down into the watery world below.

The deadwood in the upper half of the trunk is sublime, part of your grand old dame?

Ps.. Given the above I like the pot, the stand really needs to be taller to get the flowers up off the bench but otherwise

The tree itself carries a very strong image, Matt has captured it straight away

i see the old man hanging for dear life over the cliff, just barely able to grab his bonsai tree between the fingers before it fall to the depths below,.

I can see why it gets a lot of "absolute" views Bodhi...love/hate etc.
Not my cup of tea, but then again I am a coffee drinker!
I am not sure a cresent pot would really work with this one?
I love wisteria and wouldn't knock this one back either, and like Matt I like the dead wood.

I like the wisteria Bodhi, it tells a very unique story.

However, if it were mine I would change the pot. I think a round, cream colored, cascade pot without a rim would fit the bill very nicely.

Thanks for the feedback Ausbonai'ers Not many people noticed the wise old eye leading down to the beak, some of you did though
Got a few love it's and a couple of so..so's, that was expected. The popular consensus, and i agree 100% is the stand, which is needed to keep the foliage off the ground. I could fix that with a nice tall display stand. The pot has to go and i think paul has the right idea.

I think the whole tree is about the bare trunk and nothing, until the eye meets the flowers. I will post it next spring when it is just in flower.

The wise old eye of the crane at the first bend is something i love. You are very observant. And yes, a section of the grand old dame She is slowly being whittled away.

mate i love this tree. i love bonsai that tips the iceberg and creates a dramatic affect that is artistic but just enough that it still looks natural. if you look at naturally cascading trees in the wild hanging off mountins and cliffs they tend to look very much like your tree. the dead wood on the first 50% of the trunk helps tell this tale as the tree was battered at the base of the trunk and can now only grow from its hanging tip.
