Hi I aquired this PJ the other day and as you can see I have removed all the growth as by the time i got it home all the leaves and young branches were damaged. My plan is to sit back and let it do its thing over the next 9 odd months but due to the stump being so low to the ground i am stuck on how i should develope this tree. I am thinking some sort of clump style but please any suggestions would be great!

Because it's short and stumpy, the next part of the trunk will probably need to be short and almost as thick - maybe choose one near-vertical shoot, and grow very long until it thickens well, and then take the tree again off to the right in a strong zig-zag. Just my thoughts.

Hey Emi,

I have a similar stump, privett, alot more upright. Thought: let it bud all over, grow the shoots strong for a season than tie all the shoots together into one, three or five clumps, wrap with raffia and let them fuse together. Technically, instant thickness and should help give taper to the thick base. Any hoo just a thought. Good luck

Are you sure this is a Port Jackson ... leaves and growth structure don't look right too me

i agree, doesnt look like a PJ. as for the future, a clump could work quite well imo
