Is this when you say OH! Bugger and stop. This Chinese elm has been in my care for about 10 years. It has been one of those trees as you can see it has a very nice base ( 8cm 3inches ) nice movement. The top has always been a problem. So I was going to do something about it. I had just finished putting a juniper into a training pot. I thought I would have a go at this one again.
I should have gone and had a coffee. Mrs Pup is always saying it happens in threes!!. Wednesday she dropped a Japanese wall plate that was brought back for her by a cousin. Last night as I stepped of off the treadmill ( yes I have to lose weight other wise they wont let me on the flight ) I dropped my trusty old Walkman smashed it. Well here is the third thing so I have stopped work for the day.OH! bugger

A new style! I think we can call it an "Involontary 7". Anyhow the top will regrow.

This proves the saying about something or other dropping off if you don't stop playing with it.

That is after I was trying to ease the top over to the right about 1cm and that noise, we all hear when some one up the back breaks a pencil.
I believe you Grant, but as they say if you dont use it you lose it any way.
I will try to find a picture of the tree before this OH! bugger

I am grasping at more than that. I have some I can probably thread graft from.
As I said I was looking I found one of it, of a couple of years ago.

While being a tad disappointed all it not lost. This tree was the bottom half of a layer. I was not liking the way it was so layered the top.
Then cut the trunk in 5 cuts across the top.
4 years later better than the top which is also a very nice little tree. So it looks like I have something to work on and develop. So as they say in the classics watch this space. The last pics was the top of the original. So young man you now know why Pup

Hi Pup,

Sorry to hear about the Walkman. You can get a good iPod for around $200.00.
But you will have to use some software to copy your favourite songs into
computer format and copy them into the iPod.

iPods are slim and small. You can keep them in pockets -- but you should have
buttons to close the pockets

I hope you find some replacement for the Walkman...

Some would say "OH Bugger", others wound say "Opportunity"!

But gosh, I could imagine the sick feeling you'd have. My sympathy!

I would repot on a new angle and trim back such as:
This would give you a wonderful trunk movement to grow from. Then (hopefully) in a few seasons you can train as such:
