This is one 1 of 6 getting a workout over the next week of so .This plant was a gift from a friend along with a few other .I shared them around , what comes around goes around type thing .It was re-potted the previous day into a deeper pot along with 4 other trainers . This particular tree has had no trimming or previous training so its basically a pot plant specimen .I like the natural look of the Cedrus Lebiana ,however have not been able to locate a worthy specimen . I decided to trim and style this long those natural lines of the Lebiana -Cedar of Lebanon . The natural growth habit has always appealed too me so i gave it a shot . I removed the 3 lower bar branches and wired the remaining branches with black electrical wire then pre shaped them into an upright position to produce the new trunks . Then i simply stripped all the needles above and below the side shoots which will be wired with white electrical cable . This will aid the final design {poor eye sight} determining the trunk from the branches ,some of the side shoot will become upper trunk at a later stage all progressing as planned .With the needles plucked and the shoots trimmed the wire was attached and each branch was formed curving up then out , typical of the Cedar of Lebanon . With all the hard work done , i'm quite impressed with the final shape . I don't know if it comes in under the radar or any Japanese styling category but who cares , its mine and i like it more and more , things can only look better in time .The aim here is to have a tree with a finished height as is at around 600mm and around 700mm wide . Yes it will take time but these Cedars extend around 200 mm per year in plastic pots so it will fill out in a season or two along with plenty of ramification with all the new bud present , Then the hard work will come , maintaining the shape and style required for this exercise .

Good thinking Alpine. I also like the classic Cedar of Lebanon profile and wondered whether it could be recreated. Perhaps the style is a 'Lebanese broom'.

Hi Craig , the first pic is the style .I'm a bit cautious when it comes to loading other pics as you don't know if they have a copyright . Don't want any disputes like that on Ausbonsai . Thanks for posting .

Hi pasquale , i haven't seen a bonsai styled long these lines but they have grasped my interest for many years , always contemplating , now its finally happening .

Hi Bodhi , Craig inspired me a week ago this time i have insired you , now hopefully you will inspire another member and a few Cedars of differing styles will be shown .
Inspiration sparks the Motivation which leads to Creation ., thats what i love about this site .

This have been a bit neglected so they received a trim and pluck a couple of days ago however its still heading in the right direction . This will get a wire or two added sooner rather than later .
