tree burl pots

hi all

could any one tell me if large tree burls hollowed out make good bonsai pots and if so do you need to do anything to them i will be putting wild figs in to them if they are any good

Don't know but would love to know myself. Have a nice little burl I'ld love to hollow out and make it a pot!

This kunzea was planted into this one at a BSV demonstration in Jan 2010.
It was on display in Jan 2012 and is in great health.

hi all
can someone show me how to get images from my images or album to up load keeps coming up no hotlinks as i have pics off my first starter bonsai in a burl wow looks good to me burls will make good pots

Is wood a good thing to plant them in due to fungus,rot and what not :?

i wouldnt have a clue as i have never done a bonsai before but i have lots off large burls and lots off plant stock on our farm so what the heck seen a post on how to build timber pot so i thought these burls that we usaly burn in our fire as they burn so hot would make ok pots

when you view a picture in your album it has a number for image BB codes, copy the number for image url and when replying to a post click the IMG button and paste the code in should work .

One thing I have been trying to figure out Craig is how to put up a small image that you need to magnify to view it, when I pots a pic its away the size I make it :palm:
That Niggers Head looks good too but re potting would hard as the roots would get into all the nooks and crannies, well thats what I can imagine

Hi Shane have you tried uploading directly from your computer rather than from your album ? You may find that easier :tu:

yeha i have a picture first time ever i have put somthing on the net still dont know how to get the ones from the gallery but who cares i now have a picure on the net as for the bonsai hunt this is some off the stuff yu will find does any one now what sort of fig this is

They look great as a pot.
I would love to get one (hint hint )

As for the wood rotting and other problems, could you not just sand and lacker the inside of the pot ? drain holes and all?
leaveing the pots outside as normal.
