hi all
took the dogs for a hunt today and bought home some starters
as i now nothing about bonsai i have placed them in some propergation mix in a pot and coverd with moss as it always windy here at home and tied them down some feed back on what to make them into or what to shape or some offers to buy them

and we got to wild pigs also why we were there cattle over the yearts have been hard on the peach as they live the leaves more then plums the roos like the plums

one more dumb question at what stage is a tree a tree and not classed as a bonsai do you go on height

just saw this post. the trees you have dug look good. the second tree looks like it defiantly has some potential!!

keen to get out your way come spring and go for a look for some more material!

Bonsai is not determined on size or type it literally means tree in pot/trey its what you do with it, I have seen 10meter trees made into bonsai it really takes your breath away.

Shane - having dug a few I would recommend that you now put these away to rest for a year or two. Being dug while in leaf is a tough ask for these trees and they will now require time to recover and put on new root growth.
That said, good looking trees with plenty of future. When referring to size generally bonsai are under 1 metre but there are exceptions to every "rule" in bonsai.

Sorry but in japan they have catagories and top catagory is imperial (8 handed) and they are over 2meters tall and these trees are many years old and simulate mature trees best
