Withdrawn entry progress

This is the J.squamata I had entered in the Shohin comp. The reason it was withdrawn is that the original Juniper died. It was far too big to reduce in a short period of time.
Yes,I had planned that 2 of my enties were to be Tanuki. Good results in a short time.
Because I like this piece of timber I have decided to continue with the project. So I bought a much younger plant which in turn will take a little longer.
It is 10cm high.
Regards
Peter

Peter, only 10cm, it looks bigger in the pic. Sure is a nice piece of wood, hope it works out this time

This is an update.
Trimmed off some of the winter growth and rough wired.
The wood is only 100mm high from the pot but as it is a semi cascade the measurement from the rear to the tip is 230mm.
I have changed the preferred viewing angle to the original left view.

As the site is in a Shohin frenzy I thought I would update one of my withdrawn entries from last year.
The current front view shown may change back to the left view.

Peter

Looking great Peter! Bet you wish you kept it in the comp now.
I actually like the Left shot as the front. It might be deceptive just seeing the photograph though.
Very good photography too!
Thanks,
Steven

Thanks Steven and Shane,
If I had picked the right size plant originally it would not have died.

. The second plant (which is the tree in the pot) was a young starter and was a easy re-pot and work into shape.
Maybe this year will be different if I enter the trees I have in mind and if they survive the recent root trim.
Regards,
Peter

Its a Tanuki frenzy Peter and this is coming along. Do you split the tree before you fasten it?

Thank you for the replies,
Bodhidharma,
No I dont split the tree, I create a groove for it to grow into. I found in the past that the timber does not last many years because of the contact with the soil, so the tree has to stand alone evenuatly.
In saying that I am trying mallee root with my latest ones and sealing the end grain with fibreglass resin.Hopefully this will slow the rotting proccess down.

Peter

Update.
I am thinking of starting this one again so as to bring the trunk over the back of the wood.

Peter, I know that a lot of people are prejudiced against Tanuki, but that wood is fantastic and the progress that you have achieved in a small number of years really great. Great work.
