Hi!
I've been trying to root this fukien tea for a couple of weeks already. The cambium appears to be bursting; are those new roots emerging? Thanks.

Hi Phira,
It is usual for 'callus' like this to form before roots so it is likely that your cutting is in the early stages of trying to produce some roots.
I must say you appear to be a bit impatient - only giving it a few weeks before checking on progress. Very new roots are extremely brittle and are likely to break off when you turn the cuttings out to check. I usually leave cuttings alone until root tips appear out the bottom of the pot before disturbing them. By then the new roots are robust enough to stay in place while you pot the cuttings up.

Like shibui, I will not move a cutting for at least 6 weeks on Quick stock, and 3 months or more on slower ones
take a chill and leave it alone
