Here is a tree that has been cut back hard in my sisters yard and just wanted to find out if it was worth taking it.

Just need an ID.

The photos aren't the best but I believe it is a celtis. Quite commonly used for bonsai.

I would also say its a Celtis and they can make great bonsai.

There is a beautiful one in the National Collection in the USA. So yes they do make good Bonsai.

Cool thanks sorry about the pics it was taken with my phone.

Is it ok to dig it up at this time of the year.

I would wait until early spring when buds swell and start to extend . but if it needs to be lifted now you can try . you could dig a trench around it and fill with loose soil to make collecting more successful come spring.

I might try and wait until it gets closer to spring.

Has anyone else tried to collect them earlier and have it live?
