I bought this as a White Pine last year, is it?

Any pointers?

It is in danger of going to the back of the back section :palm:

Hi Damian, it does not look like a white pine to me. I will add i am no expert. i have several older ones at home but they are not juvenile like this one and the needles are very different.

Well, that clears things up to an extent, perhaps it is a red? or Pinus godknowsiensis?

Hi Damian , i visit a lot of nurseries and a lot pines are mis-labelled .It seems to be fairly common to call them red , black or white and most people think they are all Japanese .Today there is a lot of European species available but very few can correctly label them . Most of my collection are all European pines , I have reds , yellows , whites , blacks and a few JBP'S as well and numerous 2 needle pines that have to be identified .Pines are i mine field to correctly I.D . As long as it plays ball when you come to work it , its a good pine tree . There's is so many variants and cultivars nowadays we don't know which one is which :palm: .

Cheers Alpine

Hi Damian

If this was mine I'd air layer the top of were the five branch's meet & you would still have a small branch on the lower part of the trunk given you 2 tree's then stick it in the ground or a big styrene box & feed it heap's for a few year's & you would have 2 very nice tree's

I would still love to know what it is????

Is now a good time to layer?

I think it's a Scots Pine, but can be corrected...
